Who is the Bicycle Plus policy for?

Bicycle Plus policy is an insurance service for individuals – lovers of using means of transportation and active recreation equipment. With Bicycle Plus insurance, you can insure: mechanical means of transportation – bicycle, scooter; electric means of transport – electric bicycles, electric scooters, Segways and other electric means of transport, whose maximum speed does not exceed 25 kilometres per hour, as well as whose mass does not exceed 25 kilograms; active recreation equipment – skis, snowboards, skates, SUP boards, windsurfing equipment, wakeboarding equipment, kayaks, canoes. Please note that the insurance coverage under the BTA Bicycle Plus policy is not valid when carrying out business activities with the insured equipment.

What should an equipment user consider when purchasing Bicycle Plus?

When purchasing equipment insurance, you should consider the following: Property insurance protection (insured risks – total destruction or theft, repair costs) is valid for the means of transportation and active recreation equipment specified in the policy. On the other hand, accident and third-party liability insurance is valid for the person or persons who is/are indicated as the insured person or persons; When using means of transportation and active recreation equipment, you must comply with the regulations applicable in the relevant area of use.

What to do if an accident occurs?

If an accident has occurred, proceed as follows: In case of theft, robbery or traffic accidents, the incident must be reported to the police. In case of injury, seek medical help. Report the incident to BTA at +371 26 12 12 12 , as soon as possible and, if possible, take photos of the site of the accident.

What is insured?

Your equipment

If a bicycle, scooter or other active recreation equipment is damaged in a collision, we will reimburse the repair costs or reimburse the costs of purchasing equivalent equipment. Insure one or up to 5 equipment items.

Equipment user

With Bicycle Plus insurance, the user of active recreation equipment – the insured person – is insured against accidents caused during its use. It is possible to insure up to 5 people.

Other persons

The insured person, when using a bicycle, scooter or other active recreation equipment, will be insured against losses that arise, for example, from accidentally injuring a pedestrian, another cyclist or scratching another person’s car.

The most common insured events

Collision

The bicycle, electric scooter or Segway is damaged in a collision with a vehicle, pedestrian or tree.

Repair

The spokes of your bicycle wheel were damaged in a cycling accident, or you hit a rock while skiing and damaged your skis.

Accidents

A user falls off a bicycle or scooter and sustains a leg or arm injury.

Theft

The bicycle or scooter was stolen from a place at a supermarket, school, office or elsewhere. Remember! It is important that the bicycle or scooter has been locked to a stationary structure.

Third-party liability

Health damage caused to a third party while riding the insured bicycle, scooter or using other active recreation equipment. We reimburse medical expenses.

Cases, when insurance is not in force

Depreciation

The bike frame breaks due to corrosion or rust, or inventory sustains scratches, wear caused by use.

Lost

A bicycle, scooter, or other active recreation equipment was left unattended near a store or café and was not attached to any stationary structure.

Unreported theft

If the theft of a bicycle, scooter or other active recreation equipment, the robbery has not been reported to the police.

Violation

Losses are not compensated if, when using means of transportation or active recreation equipment, the rules applicable in the relevant area are violated, for example, road traffic rules are violated when using a bicycle or scooter.
